Petrarca

The NGO focuses on the sustainable development of European cultural landscapes. A special focus lies on organic and social farming and land use. The PETRARCA -branch in Witzenhausen is hosting the Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Soziale Landwirtschaft DASoL, the German umbrella organisation for social farming.

Social Farming can provide added values for people, farms, rural areas and nature as well. PETRARCA has been involved in several European projects on Social Farming (SoFar, MAIE, DIANA, INCLUFAR, TheGoodSeed, PROFARM, Gardeniser pro, SWEDA). We have been engaged in networking in social farming across Europe (COST action Green Care in Agriculture, CoP Farming for Health) and on a national level. Since the national research project “Social farming on organic farms in Germany” more than 6.500 farms and initiatives belong to the data bank receiving a regular newsletter on Social Farming. Due to teaching at the faculty of organic agricultural science at the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen lots of master's and bachelor theses on Social Farming have been supervised.
